TAP Air Portugal Partners Guide

You may know that TAP is part of the Star Alliance, but you might not be familiar with its Miles&Go program.

TAP Air Portugal miles can be redeemed for Air Portugal flights or a special redemption with a partner carrier.

This is a list TAP’s airline partner’s and the redemption options for Miles&Go Miles. There are also a couple of sweet spots that you should be aware of.

TAP Air Portugal is a partner of other Star Alliance Airlines and non-alliance carriers.

You must first be a member of the TAP Miles&Go Program to redeem TAP Miles for any flight. After logging in, click the “Reserve using miles” button. The booking can also be started from the home page.

Then, you’ll see the search box where you enter all your flight details, such as cities, dates of travel, and whether you prefer a round-trip, one-way ticket, or a multi-city itinerary. Check the box “Pay using miles”.

To book tickets with one of TAP Air Portugal’s partners, click the “Star Alliance” tab on this page.

To search for a flight that is served by TAP, Star Alliance, or both, select “TAP and Star Alliance”. The website will then perform a fresh search.

You can redeem your miles for non-alliance airlines by calling 1-800-903-7914, but TAP partners aren’t part of Star Alliance.

Miles&Go can be used in a variety of ways. These are some sweet spots.

You can travel non-stop between Dubai and Tokyo or Bali using TAP’s airline partners for just — wait for this — 50,000 Miles&Go one-way. It’s not too bad to spend up to 10 hour in the most sought-after business class seats.

Flights between Tokyo and New Delhi are about nine-hours long. One-way flights in ANA business class will cost you 50,000 Miles&Go Miles and $310 cash.

United Airlines offers award tickets from U.S.A. to Caribbean nations for 30,000 TAP Miles&Go miles.

TAP Miles&Go aren’t the easiest miles to earn. However, you can earn TAP Miles&Go by flying TAP or one of its partners. The number of miles that you can earn is determined by the type of fare you choose and the distance you fly.

Earn miles for flights within Europe or North Africa at these rates, based on the flight distance.

TAP Portugal’s partner airlines earn the same amount of miles, however each airline uses its own chart depending on their fare class and flight distances.

Based on the flight distance, this is how many miles you will earn after crediting your United flight with Miles&Go:

Capital One Miles&Go and Marriott Bonvoy are two of the additional partners that TAP Miles&Go has. Transferring points to TAP is possible at these ratios.

Miles&Go has only two status levels for elite members, Silver and gold. You’ll receive some special benefits if you reach one of the status levels.

Star Alliance Silver status is equivalent to TAP Miles&Go silver status. This status comes with:

You can also earn miles and redeem them with TAP’s airline partners if you are a member of Miles&Go.

In order to maximize the value of your TAP Air Portuguese miles, you should be familiar with which airlines partner with TAP. You can also use them in such a manner that they are most effective.

Although it may take some time for you to master the awards charts for each region, it is worth your while.
