What Credit Card Rewards can be used for Apple Purchases

You could use your points to purchase an Apple product if you have some points sitting around. Be aware, however, that these points might be more valuable if they are used for travel.

Below is a list of rewards programs that allow redemptions to Apple merchandise and gift card. If you can redeem points for gift card at the same rate for cash back, a statement credit or cash back, it is best to purchase the Apple product directly and then use the points to repay yourself. This way you can get rewards and protections for your purchase that aren’t available if you use a gift certificate.

Chase Ultimate Rewards(r), the most valuable rewards program for redeeming towards Apple merchandise, offers the highest value. For both merchandise and gift cards, points are worth one cent each. This means that 10,000 points can be converted to $100.

Depending on your card, frequent, limited-time deals can increase the redemption rate for merchandise by 10% to 25%, 25%, or even 50%. You’ll get more value from your points if you wait until you see one of these offers, than you would with a gift card or statement credit.

Chase will allow you to apply any points that you have to pay for Ultimate Rewards(r), as long as they are at least 20% of the total purchase. Then, you can charge the balance to your card with the cash remaining.

These options are lower than the NerdWallet places on Chase Ultimate Rewards(r), when they are transferred to travel partners instead.

You can redeem merchandise by navigating to U.S. Bank Rewards Centre’s Apple Rewards Store. Points are worth 0.85 cents per piece based on retail prices at the Apple store. This means that 11,764 points can be redeemed for merchandise at a cost of $100.

Points are worth one cent each when they’re used to purchase gift cards. Gift cards come in denominations of 10, $25, $50, $50, and $100. This means that 10,000 points can be redeemed for gift certificates worth $100. You may be able to redeem your points for gift cards with special offers that are only available occasionally.

U.S. U.S. Bank Rewards are worth 1 cent each when they’re used for a bank transfer or statement credit. If there isn’t a promotion to redeem points at the time you redeem them, it’s better to purchase your Apple gear using your credit card and earn rewards. Then, use your points stockpile to offset the cost with a statement credit. This will allow you to shop at any retailer, not just Apple.

PenFed has two credit cards which earn points that can be used to redeem for Apple gift cards and merchandise.

You can redeem merchandise by going to the PenFed Rewards portal, selecting the Apple Rewards banner, and then navigating to October 2022. The point value of merchandise redemptions is based on the retail price at Apple stores. It can be between 0.6 and 0.8 cent per item.

Redeem points for gift cards in the denominations of $25-50, $100, $100, and $250. Points are worth 0.85c per piece. This means that 11,764 points can be redeemed for gift cards worth $100.

While there is no way to convert PenFed rewards to cash, they can be used to purchase travel at a rate 1 cent per item.

Barclays Rewards cardholders who are new to the program cannot apply at this time. However, legacy cardholders who have been moved to the Barclays View Mastercard or any other Barclays Arrival cards are still eligible for redeeming and earning rewards.

These cards allow you to redeem rewards for Apple gift cards at a rate of 0.5 cents per piece. This means that 10,000 points can be redeemed for gift certificates worth $50. These cards are available in denominations $25, $50 and $100.

Although you can redeem your rewards for Apple merchandise directly, the gift card will usually provide greater value. The redemption rate for merchandise is based on direct retail prices from Apple. It will be between 0.3 and 0.5 cents per point.

These rates are much lower than the 1 cent per cardholder can receive when they redeem Barclays Rewards for a statement credit towards travel purchases. Even if cash is tight, it’s worth trying to pay for a hotel or flight with rewards instead of buying Apple gear.

American Express Membership Rewards can also be used to buy Apple gift cards at a rate of 0.85c per piece. Gift cards can be purchased in denominations of 10, $25, $50 or $100. This means that 11,764 points can be used to redeem for gift cards worth $100. AmEx offers limited-time deals that increase the redemption value of points for gift cards, just like other issuers.

This rate is higher than the 0.6c per cardholder who redeems their Membership Rewards for a statement credits, but it is still lower than the 1 cent per points available when booking travel through AmEx. These rates are also lower than the NerdWallet value for Membership Rewards points when they are transferred to travel partners.

Capital One points (called miles) are redeemable for Apple gift cards at a rate of 1 cent per piece. This means that 10,000 miles can be redeemed for gift certificates worth $100. You can purchase gift cards in denominations of $25 to $50, $50, $100, and $200. As with many other issuers of gift cards, there may be occasional limited-time promotions that offer an increased redemption rate.

Capital One miles can be used to redeem cash back, or a statement credit with a value of 1c per point. You might be better off using Capital One miles to purchase Apple products. You can shop at any retailer, not just Apple.

Citi ThankYou points can redeem for Apple gift cards with a value of 1c per point. You can purchase gift cards in denominations of $25 to $50 or $100. This means that 10,000 points can be redeemed for gift certificates worth $100. When redeemed to a bank account, or to a statement credit, this redemption value equals the cash-back value for ThankYou points.

Instead of redeeming points to purchase gift cards, it’s better to buy a new Mac Mini using your credit card. Then earn ThankYou points and redeem your ThankYou points against the charge.

Bank of America(r), credit card points can be used to redeem for Apple gift cards. The redemption value is 1 cent per point. This means that 10,000 points can be redeemed for gift certificates, which are available at denominations of $25, $50 and $100 as well as $250, $250, $250, $500, $250, $250, 250, and $500.

Bank of America(r), points can be used to redeem for a statement credit, or as a cash transfer into a deposit account. Each point is worth 1 cent. If you have a lot of Bank of America(r), rewards you would like to redeem for an iPhone, it might be a better idea to use your rewards-earning card to make the purchase and offset the cost with a statement credit. You can shop around to find the best deal, and you won’t be forced into buying directly from Apple.
