Epcot for Children: What Parents Should Know

You’ve finally reached Walt Disney World. It’s your first time to Walt Disney World. But you aren’t sure what parks will be best for your family. We understand that Disney World has a lot of attractions and is filled with options.

Epcot is one of the most popular theme parks. It focuses on global culture and future technology. Is Epcot suitable for children? Although it might seem like Epcot is geared towards older people, there are many activities that can be enjoyed by families. Let’s take an overview.

Epcot is for children?

Epcot is great for children. Although it’s not as kid-friendly than Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot still has attractions and activities that cater to children.

Activities for kids at Epcot

Epcot is good for toddlers. What about younger children? No matter what age your children are, there will be attractions that suit them all. Epcot offers many activities for children, from infants to adults.

Many rides do not require height requirements. These attractions include:

  Frozen Ever After.

  Gran Fiesta Tour.

  A Journey into Imagination with Figment.
  

• 
  Living with Nature.
  

• 
  Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

You can also find more thrilling rides with stricter requirements like 3’4″ height or higher. Epcot rides that have height requirements include:

  Mission: Space.

  Soarin’ Around the World.

  Guardians of the Galaxy – Cosmic Rewind (requires a height of 3’6″)
  

These Epcot rides are more exciting and require some preparations, so they are a good choice for older children.

There are other Epcot attractions that will appeal to children of all ages:

• Non-ride attractions. You’ll find a variety of shows scattered throughout Epcot. Different World Showcase pavilions host shows that feature acrobatics and music, or drumming, at certain times of the day.

• Meet & Greets. Character meet and greets are available throughout the park. These include the beloved Frozen characters Anna, Elsa and Elsa.

• Aquarium. The area once known as Future World can now be visited by three neighborhoods, World Nature, World Discovery, and World Celebration. This area has an aquarium with mantas, sharks and turtles. It is free and easy to get into.

• Fireworks. The fireworks show at Epcot takes center stage at night. While kids will enjoy the best view of the fireworks show near the water, there is plenty of space and you can see it from all parts.

Kidcot is also available at Epcot. It has stations all over the World Showcase, and features attractions from 11 different countries. Kidcot allows children to collect souvenir cards and participate in activities that reflect the culture of each pavilion.

Do you and your family like festivals? Epcot is the perfect place to take your family on a fun adventure. Epcot celebrates four different festivals throughout the year.

• 
  Enjoy the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays from November to December. Pop-up food kiosks will be set up around the World Showcase, and the theme shows will take over.

  The Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, which takes place in spring, brings topiaries and other edibles to the park. There are also activities like scavenger hunts.
  

• 
  The Epcot International Festival of the Arts allows children to create their own art while showing off Disney’s Broadway musicals.

  Just when you thought there were too many festivals, Epcot International Food and Wine Festival is here. It takes place during summer and focuses primarily on food and wine. This festival, which has been running for four months, is one of Epcot’s most popular.
  

Although this festival is geared towards adults, children will love trying new flavors. All the Epcot restaurants are still open and happy to serve.

Walt Disney World is big on merchandise and Epcot is no exception. There are many stores in the parks that sell merchandise, such as T-shirts or bubble wands.

Epcot is known for its international feel, so your family can also explore the shops at every pavilion filled with international products. Have you ever wanted to make your children try Pocky? Go to Japan’s pavilion. Is it possible to convince them to try escargot? It’s possible to try it at the French pavilion.

You can also purchase special themed merchandise during festivals. These items will be available in pop-ups located around the park.

Food has been mentioned a few times before. Epcot has a lot to offer in terms of shows, festivals, shops and rides. But Epcot’s food offerings are on a whole new level. The food options are so good that an Epcot annual pass was available that allowed you to access Epcot only after 4 p.m.

Many of the World Showcase pavilions have their own restaurants. You’ll want to check them out before you go. You can choose from quick-service or full-service white tablecloth dining. There are also themed restaurants that offer entertainment such as Norway’s Akershus or the Biergarten in Germany.

To take your children to Epcot

Epcot might not appear to be very kid-friendly on the surface. You’ll be surprised at the number of activities that both kids and adults enjoy if you do some research.

While younger children may have to be put off the larger rides, everyone can still enjoy a day at this Florida park.
