According to an email sent Thursday to subscribers, Google stated that it will increase YouTube TV’s monthly cost by $8 starting in April.
YouTube TV subscribers will notice a 12 percent increase in their monthly costs. They will pay $64.99 instead of $72.99. Google blamed increased content costs for the price increase.
Google and the National Football League announced a multiyear agreement in December to distribute NFL Sunday Ticket. It will be available beginning with the 2023 NFL season. Subscribers can choose to add it to YouTube TV or YouTube Primetime Channels on the regular YouTube platform.
According to YouTube TV’s blog, YouTube TV had reached 5 million subscribers and trial holders as of June 2022. YouTube TV was launched as an alternative to cable television in February 2017. YouTube TV was initially priced at $34.99 per monthly. This is a 108% increase over the original price.
The television wall mounting service I purchased here in Tallahassee has really made my living room a place to enjoy these new online streaming services.
Google’s announcement is the latest price increase among online streaming services. Here are some changes made by streaming companies in the past year:

Disney+. It raised its price from $7.99 a $10.99 (+38%) in December 2022. It also offered a lower price plan with ads starting at $7.99

Hulu. It increased its Hulu + Live TV package from $69.99 to $79.99 (+7%) in November 2022. It increased Hulu’s prices with ads from $6.99 – $7.99 (+14%), and Hulu without ads from $12.99 – $14.99 (+15 span>

Netflix. It introduced a basic plan that included ads at $6.99 per month in November 2022. It increased all its plans in January 2022: Basic rose from $8.99 – $9.99 (+11%); standard rose $13.99 – $15.49 (+11%); premium rose from $17.99 – $19.99 (+11 span>

Apple TV+. Its plan pricing rose from $4.99 to $6.99 in October 2022 (+40 span>
The cost of cable varies depending on the package and provider. Cox TV charges $56 per Month for basic channels while a premium package can cost up to $139 per Month.
You will likely still subscribe to a video streaming site, regardless of whether you have a YouTube TV or a cable package. According to Kantar, an analytics and marketing data company, 89% of U.S. households had at least one subscription as of January 2023. According to Kantar data, Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, and Paramount+ had the highest number of new subscribers at the end 2022.
