Radisson Rewards Americas and Choice Privileges are merging

Less than a year following the completion of their acquisition, Choice Hotels Americas and Radisson Hotels Americas have officially combined their loyalty programs.

Many months have passed since this shift was anticipated. Choice Hotels acquired the Radisson Americas portfolio of hotels in August 2022. Radisson’s Americas loyalty program has been operated separately for the last two years from other international properties.

What you need to know about the new changes.

On July 18, any points that Radisson Rewards Americas Members have on their account will be automatically transferred into their Choice Privileges Account. If you are a Radisson Rewards Americas member but don’t yet have a ChoicePrivileges account, we encourage you to create one.

Choice also runs a number of promotions in order to encourage Radisson Rewards Members to switch. From June 26, 2023 to September 30, 2023, you can earn 5,000 additional Choice Privileges Points on your first stay that qualifies for Choice Privileges. You can earn 500 Choice Privileges Bonus Points if you switch your Radisson Rewards Americas Account to Choice Privileges before July 17, 2023. Earn an extra 5,000 points when you book your first stay between June 26 and September 30, 2023.

Be prepared to receive fewer Choice Points than with Radisson. Transferring points won’t always be 1:1. The conversion is two Radisson Reward Americas points to one Choice Privileges.

Radisson members earn points more quickly than Choice members. Prior to this, Radisson non-elite members received 20 points for every dollar they spent at hotels. Choice Privileges’ entry-level membership earns up to 10 Points per Dollar spent.

To book a free night with Choice Privileges, you’ll need fewer points. Radisson Rewards Americas usually required a minimum of 15,000 points to redeem a free night, while Choice Privileges allows members to get one for as little as 6,000 (though it is more common that 8,000 or more points are needed).

Do not worry if you already have a reservation for a Radisson Hotels Americas Stay, including points-based reservations. Reservations made in the past will not be affected. You will now receive Choice points if you book a stay after 18 July 2023. Your reservation will be honored if you have booked a Radisson Points Award Night.

Choice Hotels has thousands of hotels in the U.S. Choose brands such as Comfort, Sleep Inn and Econo Lodge.

Radisson Hotels Americas has an extensive portfolio, which includes brands such as Country Inn and Suites and Radisson.

Radisson Rewards Americas members with elite status will also see their level rollover to Choice Privileges. You can keep the higher status level if you are an elite member of both programs.

You will also qualify for elite status if the company combines your credits. If you spent 7 nights in Choice Hotels, and another 4 at Radisson hotels, that would be 11 nights. That’s enough for you to achieve Gold status with the Choice Privileges Program.

Less than a year since Choice Hotels purchased Radisson Hotels Americas for $675m, their hotel loyalty programs are now merging into Choice Privileges.

Members will be able to transfer their points, reservations and elite status when Radisson Rewards Americas ends. Members who’ve dabbled in both programs for a few nights will benefit from seeing their elite nights combined. This should be helpful to those aiming to achieve elite status by 2024. This change also means the end to a hotel loyalty program that was rated highly by NerdWallet.
