No matter what cabin you fly, Singapore Airlines is a top airline worldwide. Singapore Airlines premium economy is no different. Singapore Airlines premium economy is a step above the solid Singapore Airlines economy experience. It offers extra legroom, priority boarding, and additional checked baggage perks.

This is our Singapore Airlines Premium Economy Review and what you can expect to see onboard.

While clunky seats reduce legroom, double armrests provide comfort

While premium economy seats on Singapore Airlines aircraft are slightly different, they are very similar. Premium economy is available on four types of aircraft from Singapore Airlines:

  • Airbus A350 -900.

  • Airbus A350 900ULR — An “ultra-long-range” version of Airbus A350 that is used on many Singapore Airlines flights to the United States.

  • Airbus A380.

  • Boeing 777-300ER.

Singapore Airlines did not install a premium economy cabin aboard its Boeing 787-10 aircraft.

Singapore Airlines premium economy cabins are arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration. This means that you will always find two seats either side of the aisle and four seats in the middle column.

For couples travelling together, the 2-4-2 arrangement works well. Each row of premium economy Singapore Airlines offers two pairs with one window and one aisle seat.

For families or groups of four, the middle column of seats is ideal. Even if you find yourself in the middle column, you won’t be tangled up with your neighbors.

Singapore Airlines Airbus A350 900ULR is equipped with premium and business economy cabins. This means that no one will be stuck in economy for the longest flight anywhere in the world. It also allows for a huge premium economy cabin.

You can reserve one of six solo seats in the back on the Singapore Airlines A350 900ULR if you are flying solo. These seats are identical to those in the cabin. You will have your own storage bin and not a seatmate.

All Singapore Airlines premium economy seats have 38 inches pitch. This is the industry standard for premium economy seating. The legroom on Singapore Airlines premium economy seats isn’t as generous as other airlines because of their thickness.

Every seatback comes with a large 13.3-inch screen for entertainment, a literature pocket, and a coat hook. The footrest extends from below the seatback. Two small pouches of the size of a phone are located between the seats in front.

Each premium economy Singapore Airlines seat includes a footrest and a leg rest. Each seat also has an individual adjustable reading light and a headrest.

Enjoy your pre-departure drink and then use Book the Cook to get meaningful mealtime upgrades

A premium economy ticket will give you a better experience with food and drinks. That all starts at the ground.

Singapore Airlines suspended its service for much of the pandemic. However, the airline resumed offering premium-economy pre-departure beverages starting in September 16, 2022.

Singapore Airlines premium economy passengers have the option to choose from a variety of non-alcoholic beverages such as soft drinks, fruit juices and coffee. Passengers can also enjoy a glass each of red, white, and champagne wine as well as beer, and other liquors and spirits. Premium economy passengers can order a Singapore Sling and other selected cocktails.

Premium economy meals and side dishes on Singapore Airlines are usually served in foil and plastic wrapped on a single tray.

Premium economy meals might look similar to economy meals at first glance. There are some niceties. First, meals come with metal cutlery. Second, you can use a reusable coffee mug.

However, premium economy Singapore Airlines passengers can enjoy the Singapore Airlines’ “Book the Cook”, meal pre-order option.

Singapore Airlines Book the Cook

Singapore Airlines premium economy customers can Book the Cook on long-haul Singapore Airlines flights. Singapore Airlines Book the Cook allows travelers to choose from a wider range of options than the three available on board. On the Book the Cook website of Singapore Airlines, you can view all available options for your flight.

Singapore Airlines Book the Cook allows you to select your meal 24 hours prior to your flight. The cutoff for flights departing from Newark is 48 hours prior to departure. The Book the Cook option will be greyed out if you miss the cutoff or your flight is not eligible.

Book the Cook does not affect your main dish. Based on your meal time, you will still receive the same side dishes that premium economy passengers.

A breakfast meal service will include fruit, yogurt, and a croissant, even though you have ordered a main meal.

Other perks like checked bags can add hard value

Every premium economy seat comes with a lumbar pillow and a blanket wrapped in plastic. Singapore Airlines also stores passengers’ noise-canceling headphones inside the seatback pocket.

You don’t need to worry about disembarking due to low-charge batteries. Every premium economy seat has a universal power outlet as well as two USB outlets.

Additional perks for Singapore Airlines premium economy include

  • Additional baggage allowance: Premium economy passengers on Singapore Airlines can carry a bag of up to 77 pounds (35 kg) without any additional charges.

  • Special check-in lines: Premium economy Singapore Airlines passengers have access to a dedicated check in line at Singapore airport.

  • Priority boarding: Premium economy Singapore Airlines passengers receive priority boarding. This applies only to flights on the Airbus A350 900ULR because it does not have an economy cabin.

  • Extra mileage earnings: A bonus to upgrading to premium economy includes a higher earning rate with Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer as well as other mileage programs.

Worth it in the long-term

Singapore is quite far from the United States. If you are looking for more legroom or a better experience on long flights to Singapore, this service is a good choice.

Singapore Airlines premium economy is a better option than any other economy product on flights to Singapore. It offers pre-departure beverages, the ability to order meals through Book the Cook and extra legroom.
