The 2023 Women’s World Cup will take place in New Zealand, Australia and nine other cities. It starts on Thursday.


The U.S. Women’s National Team is aiming to win its third World Cup in a row. It has never finished lower than third at the Women’s World Cup.


The World Cup being played on the opposite side of Earth means that many of its 64 matches are broadcast in the early hours of the morning for North American audiences. In the first match of Thursday, co-host New Zealand will face off against Norway. The game starts at 3 am EDT. The tournament concludes on August 20.
