It is completely free to join the program. To become Silver Elite and receive the benefits that go with it, you must first qualify.
Marriott Silver Elite Benefits and how to achieve Marriott Silver Elite Status.
What is Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite Status?
Silver offers the least benefits. Silver is the lowest level of elite status, but it also offers the most benefits to those who travel less frequently.
Marriott Silver Elite perks
Silver Elite members don’t get lavish rewards. Instead, you get:
-
Earn 10% bonus points on all paid-for stays.
-
When available, priority late checkout.
Marriott Bonvoy Members enjoy a number of benefits, including:
-
Room Wi-Fi is free.
-
Members rates
-
Mobile Check-in and Mobile Key.
Silver Elite Status comes with a 10% bonus. The 10% bonus points can be used to redeem your free night faster. This is why you signed up for the hotel loyalty program in the first instance.
A late checkout can be useful — or useless — depending on if you really need it, and if the hotel is able to allow you to stay in the room for a few extra hours.
This Silver Elite Marriott perk could help you avoid the inconvenience of having to hand your luggage over to the hotel staff so you can explore your destination and then dig through your suitcases looking for an extra change of clothing before flying home.
It’s unlikely that the hotel will grant a free late check-out request to Silver Elite members, so do not count on this.
Marriott Elite Silver

We found that a 5-night stay in Hawaii would cost 2,495 dollars and give you 24,950 points, plus bonus points for elite status.
However, because the booking was made through United’s MileagePlus Shop portal , 1 United Mile per Dollar earned, which is deposited into your United MileagePlus Account registered for MileagePlus Shopping a few weeks later.
Marriott Hotel bookings on these online airline portals are standard at 1 mile per $1. Special promotions may boost earning to as much as 2, 5, or 10 miles for every dollar. Southwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines do not offer miles when you book Marriott through their online shopping portals.
Is Marriott Silver Elite Status worth it?
The purpose of hotel loyalty programs is to entice you by highlighting perks and prestige. They do this while ignoring important issues like price.
Silver Elite Status is only worth $10, so if you are trying to decide between Marriott or a cheaper non-Marriott property it isn’t a reason to spend more. A shot at Silver Elite status is not a good reason to use a credit card with an annual charge.
If you are going to book a Marriott hotel anyway, because you want the property with the best amenities, location, rate, or accommodations — then earning Silver Elite is easy, free and worth it.
A Marriott credit card is no different. If the other benefits of the card, such as the bonus points for signing up or the free nights are worth it, Silver Elite status will be a great addition to these.
